Ajay Devgn is all set for the release of his Golmaal 3

Apparently, the sequel is going to be whackier and funnier than ever before. “We also have an interesting story and a nice emotional angle to it which will touch your heart” says Ajay.

The earlier sequels had him being naughty and bratty but his role in Golmaal 3, says Ajay is that of a man who is a bit crazy and mad. “My character is short tempered and he keeps breaking fingers, that’s why he has the edgy look. I am more like a child who gets upset for no reason,” he says.

The film will also see Kunal Khemu in one of the roles. It may be recalled that Ajay worked with Kunal as a child star in Zakhm in 1998. “Yes he reminded me about it on the first day of the shoot. Kunal is a good actor and he’s grown now. But he was always a talented kid.”

Ajay will be seen doing death-defying stunts in the film. “This time we have blown more cars. I will be seen standing between two cars. The last time I did that was for my debut venture Phool Aur Kaante. It’s a big scene. I have been lucky to work with different genres. I got a chance to work with good directors at the right time and experiment with roles.”

Right now Ajay is busy shuttling from London to Mumbai shooting for Priyadarshan’s Tez in London. “I can’t talk much, but yes it’s an action film. I will be releasing my next Toonpur Ka Super Hero an animated venture soon,” he adds.

Bollywood star Ajay Devgn may have appeared in "Kaun Banega Crorepati" to promote his forthcoming comedy "Golmaal 3", but he actually opposes the new marketing gimmick of using TV shows to market movies.
"I am always under the producer’s pressure to do such things to promote films. If one is doing it, then another has to do it as well because it becomes a habit for the audience to watch such things," Ajay told IANS in an interview.
He joined Arshad Warsi, Kunal Khemu, Shreyas Talpade, Tusshar Kapoor and director Rohit Shetty on the quiz show hosted by megastar Amitabh Bachchan for Sony. The film is releasing Friday.Special efforts are made to create space for movie stars in television programmes, says Ajay.
"Scenes are written to incorporate the stars of the respective film to promote it (through serials). It’s not a good idea. I don’t know where it will meet its end. But one can’t stop it, will have to do it unanimously. I always do it indifferently," said the 41-year-old.
He had earlier appeared on "Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma" and also featured in an episode of "Crime Patrol" to promote "Aakrosh", a film about honour killings.
The trend was started by Abhishek Bachchan when he appeared on the hit series "Balika Vadhu" to promote his 2008 release "Drona". In recent times, Akshay Kumar joined the cast of "Sasural Genda Phool" for the marketing of "Khatta Meetha"; Salman Khan appeared on Colors’ soap "Laagi Tujhse Lagan" for his recent mega hit "Dabangg"; and Neetu and Rishi Kapoor featured on SAB TV’s comedy show "Tarak Mehta Ka Ulta Chashma" to introduce their film "Do Dooni Chaar".
Promotion strategy notwithstanding, Ajay says "Golmaal 3" is a fulsome Diwali treat to the audience and what sets it apart from the last two instalments of the brainless comedies is that this time they have a story to tell.
"The only intention of making sequels of ’Golmaal’ is to entertain people, not to find logic. We planned to release it during Diwali because that’s the festive season and people want to enjoy a movie with family. That’s why we try keeping ’Golmaal’ clean. "There is a very interesting story this time. It’s complicated in the sense that there are two groups and how they fight and get together. There is a nice emotional angle to it. With laughs throughout the movie, somewhere it touches your heart and again resumes to be a full-fledged comedy," said Ajay.
Talking about his character, he said: "My character is little crazy and mad. He has got a bad temper, which makes the character completely different from the first two.
That’s why the character is given a very edgy look."

Bollywood has finally joined with Hollywood in the business

Next year may well be the year of sequels with most directors and producers ready to make Part 2 or Part 3 of their landmark films. Of course, the trend has already been set by Rohit Shetty and his Golmaal series , of which two are already out. The director is all set to begin work on the trilogy in the coming year, the cast of which will remain the same, except for the absence of Arshad Warsi from the sequel and the trilogy.

Another film which is dying to have a sequel is ’Mr India’. Producer Boney Kapoor is very keen on making a sequel which will star his wife Sridevi and brother Anil Kapoor. This time round he intends to rope in Salman Khan as well as a superhero. Priyadarshan made ’Hera Pheri’ and gave us those loveable characters of Babubrao, Ghanshyam and Raju.

But he had no hand in the sequel, ’Phir Hera Pheri’ and now one hears that ’Hera Pheri 4’ is on the cards and it will be directed by Anees Bazmee. And no we haven’t missed Hera Pheri 3, just that the trilogy is being called ’Hera Pheri 4’. And that’s not all, there is Farhan Akhtar’s ’Don 2’, Abbas Mustan’s ’Race 2’, Shetty’s ’All The Best 2’, and ’Agyaat 2’ as well.

One also hears that there may just be a ’Dhoom 3’ as well. So that makes it almost a year full of sequels and trilogies. Bollywood has finally joined with Hollywood in the business of making sequels. It is after all, a matter of brand value. If it sells, then why not?

Warner Bros Pictures join hands for Ajay Devgn movie

Warner Bros. Pictures India and Wide Frame Films join hands for their next Bollywood film Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge? starring Ajay Devgn , Konkona Sen Sharma & Paresh Rawal in lead roles. The film is being directed by Ashwani Dheer while Amita Pathak (daughter of producer Kumar Mangat) will take on the reins of a Producer for the first time with this project.

"The script of Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge? itself is a non stop laugh riot and you add the comical talents of Ajay Devgn, Paresh Rawal & Konkona Sen to it and what we have is a winner at the box office" says Denzil Dias, Deputy Managing Director (Theatrical), Warner Bros . Pictures India

Says the debutant producer Amita Pathak, "When my director (Ashwani Dheer) narrated the script to me, I could completely relate to it as we have also faced a similar scenario at home leading to a lot of funny and frustrating situations. We felt it made the perfect premise for a rip-roaring comedy. And that is how Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge? was born."

This is the first time the 3 National award winners namely Ajay, Konkona and Paresh have been cast together for a light hearted comedy.

Says Ajay Devgn, "I liked the script because it is very real and has some slice-of-life comic situations. It is also very cleverly written and the humour in the dialogues makes it very likeable. I’m sure people from all walks of life will identify with this because every home must have had a guest who has been the bane of their lives."

To be shot over 50 days at Yash Raj Studios and other locales in Mumbai, the film is slated to release on 26th February 2010.

Music for the film will be composed by Pritam while the lyrics have been penned by Irshad Kamil. The Cinematographer of the film is Aseem Bajaj, Sound recordist is Subhash Sahu while production designs will be done by Sabu Cyril.

Ajay Devgn required to showcase his intense side

Doing just intense roles can get quite boring, believes Ajay Devgn who is happy to have worn a different hat in the out and out comedy All The Best even as he is on home ground in London Dreams.

"It’s a great feeling that at this stage of my career I am being seen in movies as diverse as London Dreams and All The Best. At one point of time, I was doing only intense roles," said Ajay, 40, who won a National Award for Zakhm (1998).

"But, believe me, if I had continued doing that till date with every film, I would have been really bored and fed up by now."

Ajay has been seen in quite a few films that required him to showcase his intense side, among them Halla Bol, Omkara, Apaharan, Gangaajal, Deewangee, Company and Takshak.

His London Dreams co-star Asin has said it is Ajay’s "intensity quotient" that strikes one most as an actor. She also said when it comes to dramatic scenes, he just "eats up the screen".

But Ajay says humbly, "I don’t really know if I eat up the screen or do anything like that in my dramatic scenes. Yes, intensity has been my forte and I take her views as a compliment. But, as I said, I am loving this phase of my career where I am able to work on diverse films."

In the pipeline are films like Rajneeti, Once Upon a Time in Mumbai, Priyadarshan’s next film, Atithi Tum Kab Jaaoge, Toonpur Ka Superhero and a sequel to Golmaal or All The Best. Clearly, the man is enjoying his status as an actor who can work in diverse genres.

Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn selling tickets for London Dreams

Marketing is the new buzzword in tinseltown and the biggest and best are waking up to the worth of a good promotion strategy. Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn are no exceptions, it seems, and the duo will now be seen behind the counter, selling tickets for their upcoming London Dreams.

From the outset, director Vipul Shah had an extensive strategy in place but things didn’t quite go as planned. The team had planned to have a series of London Dreams concerts across the country, but that was put in jeopardy after concerns over the frenzy it would cause among fans, and the lack of suitable venues. The series had to be cancelled, said Intech Image company managing director S. Chakravarty, after they realised the gravity of the situation.

As an alternative, Vipul was keen to have a novel initiative. So now Ajay and Salman will sell tickets to customers at Delhi multiplexes. The makers were still a bit wary about security issues but have plumped for this initiative since it allows the stars to be sat in a closed room, manned by security while still close enough to fans across the window.

Sources tell us it’s a publicity gimmick many producers are looking to follow. With stars sat at counters there are bound to be crowds coming in. The fact that it directly influences ticket sales makes it an effective strategy.

Trust Ajay Devgn as a producer to know how to delight his audiences, and he can give his competitors a run for their money! The usually low profile actor cum producer went out to meet his audiences along with the team of ALL THE BESTto Cinemax on Sunday evening.

Seen along with him was Bipasha Basu, dressed in a sexy blue outfit, director Rohit Shetty and the gang of the comedians namely, Sanjay Mishra, Atul Parchure and Mukesh Tiwari.

Shiney finds a good friend in gangster Abu Salem

Bollywood shocking actor Shiney Ahuja is having a tough time in jail. Heavy rain in Mumbai leads to waterlog in his barrack. On Thursday, the water level raised to six inches inside Shiney’s barrack and irritated and helpless Shiney approached the jail authority to shift him to some other barrack.

Helpless Shiney finds a good friend in gangster Abu Salem. Abu is looking after his problem and he might do the best he can for his new friend. “The two often chat during breakfast and lunch,” a jail officer said. “Salem may use his clout and arrange for a better barrack for the actor.” In the jail, the two bond over exercise session and discuss their common interest, films.

Shiney’s bail application has been rejected and he will be under judicial custody till July 16.
