Acoustic Research launches the ARS35i, a rotating speaker docking station for iPad. The dock offers motorized 90-degree rotation, allowing users to switch from portrait to landscape at the touch of a button. It is app-enhanced which means it can be used with supported iPhone/iPad apps to extend the functionality.

nPower PEG Personal Energy Generator

A company called Tremont Electric introduces the nPower PEG (Personal Energy Generator), which is a small, lightweight device that allows you to create renewable energy while you walk or run.
Users simply put the PEG vertically in their backpack, briefcase, or handbag. As they move, the PEG will harvests the kinetic energy that you’re already generating and converts it into usable power for recharging your cell phone, MP3, or other handheld device. According to the company, the PEG is compatible with 90% of hand-held electronic devices using adapter tip (compatible with tips from iGo).
The nPower PEG is available now in serveral packages, such as pack for Apple, for Blackberry..etc. Each pack is priced at $149.99.

Sony’s S-Series Walkman gets a price, and so does the E-Series

It’s sometimes hard to believe how valueless the Walkman brand has become in the 21st century. Perhaps the most iconic gadget of the 80s, the Walkman has lost all of its branding cachet to Apple’s iPod, and Sony has spent the last few years trying to reinvent the Walkman line to go head to head with Cupertino.

The latest S-Series of Walkmans is Sony’s newest attempt to do just that. Not intended to go toe to toe with the iPod Touch, the Walkman S-Series is a 2.4-inch QVGA LCD portable media player coming in both 8GB and 16GB varieties.

The S-Series has a recordable FM Tuner with 30 station presets, a rechargeable lithium ion battery rated for 42 hours of audio or 6.4 hours of video playback. It also includes built-in stereo speakers, which will drop the music to 17 hours, and video playback to five hours. The usual host of formats is provided: JPG, MP3, WMA, AAC, H264, WMV and MP4.

The 8GB S-Series will retail for $110 and the 16GB for $130.

Sony have also announced a cheaper E-Series flavor, for those who eschew using a Walkman as a boombox. It ditches the speakers, shrinks the screen to a 2-inch QVGA, and removes H264 support. The 8GB E-Series is a paltry $80, while the 16GB will set you back $20 more.

All Sony’s Walkmans support iTunes and Windows Media Player, and come in a panoply of chromatic options. Likely to replace the iPod with the Walkman in the minds of consumers? Unlikely indeed. But at least we can all count on the fact that someday, the iPod will be just as retro-iconic a gadget as the Walkman.
