Seagate Pulsar – it’s first Solid State Drive
Finally, Seagate announced its first solid state drive, the Pulsar, which is targeted at enterprise blade and general server applications instead of consumer market. The 2.5-inch Pulsar is based on single-level cell (SLC) technology and offers up to 200GB capacity.
The Seagate Pulsar uses SATA 3Gb/s interface. It delivers a a peak performance of up to 30,000 read IOPS and 25,000 write IOPS, 240MB/s sequential read and 200 MB/s sequential write speeds.

After the USB 3.0 external hard drive, Buffalo Japan announced the new BR-X1216U3, a 12X external Blu-ray disc burner with the latest USB 3.0 SuperSpeed interface. Thanks to the USB 3.0, Buffalo’s new writer provides faster and more stable disc burning.The Buffalo BR-X1216U3 writes BD-R and BD-R Dual Layer at up to 12X and BD-RE SL/DL at up to 2X. It also supports burning DVD+/-R at 16X, DVD+/-R DL at 8X, DVD+RW at 8X, DVD-R at 6X and DVD-RAM at 5X. CD-R/RW are also supported. The Blu-ray drive, other than writing, is compatible with BD-Live and supports AVCHD playback. It even does HD upscaling using the bundled CyberLink Power Director software.
The Buffalo BR-X1216U3 is backward compatible with USB 2.0 interface as well, so you can still use with your exiting PC. It will be released in early December for 39,100 Yen.

Funai and Nippon Signal have developed the Eco Scan mini projector that is able to produce touch sensitive images. The projector utilizes Nippon Signal’s MEMS scanner and RGB laser light is scanned by a two-axis MEMS mirror to project a color image.

Samsung introduces the SH-B083 COMBO, its first internal Blu-ray Disc Combo drive. The SH-B083 is able to read BD-R and BD-ROM at up to 8X speeds. It is also a CD/DVD burner that writes DVD+/-R/RW/R DL at up to 12X, DVD-RAM at 5X and CD-R/RW at 40X.
The Samsung SH-B083 COMBO reads DVD at 16X and CD at 40X. It uses SATA interface and has 2MB buffer memory. It includes the SuperLink Buffer Underrun Protection. The combo drive comes with Cyberlink TrueTheater software and will be available in November.

Samsung 32GB moviNAND utilizes 30nm-class NAND Technology

Samsung introduces the new 32GB moviNAND, the highest density and the first embedded memory card to utilize 32 Gigabit (Gb) NAND devices produced with 30nm-class process technology.
Each 32GB moviNAND device incorporates eight Samsung 30nm-class 32Gb NAND chips, a multimedia card (MMC) controller and firmware. The 30nm moviNAND is also available in 16GB, 8GB and 4GB capacities.
Samsung’s proprietary moviNAND observes the embedded MMC (eMMC) standard, and uses a high-speed interface that was jointly developed by JEDEC and MMCA (MultiMediaCard Association). The most recent specification (eMMC v4.3) includes a power-on boot feature that shortens boot-up time and a sleep command to reduce power consumption.more
