Foremay has the world’s fastst 1.8-inch SSD

Pasadena, California-based company Foremay, one of the world’s Top 10 SSD OEMs, begins shipping the world’s fatest 1.8-inch SSD. Foremays’ 1.8-inch SSD uses standard microSATA interface and offers up to 280MB/s read/write speeds, 4kB random IOPS of 30,000 in read and 15,000 in write, and capacity up to 400 GB.
The 1.8-inch SSD has a length that is 7mm less than an American Express Credit card. With such a small form factor, it is capable of being deployed not only in high end laptops, but also in industrial PC, HPC and enterprise servers.
Foremay offers the high-speed 1.8-inch SSD technology in SSD families, the SC199 and EC188 with 5mm thickness and the OC177 that is just 3.3mm thick. The SC199 is designed for high reliability rugged applications, the EC188 is for high performance applications, and the OC177 is to deliver integrated on-board computing with minimized footprint requirements for embedded solid state disk storage applications.

Samsung announced its newest wireless laser multifunction printer, the SCX-4623FW for small business, home office and personal at-home users. This new printer features the new one-touch WPS button for connecting to wireless network easily.
Samsung SCX-4623FW prints up to 23 pages per minute. Other than printing, it is also capable of scanning, faxing and copying. The SCX-4623FW will be available for $249.99.

Finally, Seagate announced its first solid state drive, the Pulsar, which is targeted at enterprise blade and general server applications instead of consumer market. The 2.5-inch Pulsar is based on single-level cell (SLC) technology and offers up to 200GB capacity.

The Seagate Pulsar uses SATA 3Gb/s interface. It delivers a a peak performance of up to 30,000 read IOPS and 25,000 write IOPS, 240MB/s sequential read and 200 MB/s sequential write speeds.

After the USB 3.0 external hard drive, Buffalo Japan announced the new BR-X1216U3, a 12X  external Blu-ray disc burner with the latest USB 3.0 SuperSpeed interface. Thanks to the USB 3.0, Buffalo’s new writer provides faster and more stable disc burning.
The Buffalo BR-X1216U3 writes BD-R and BD-R Dual Layer at up to 12X and BD-RE SL/DL at up to 2X. It also supports burning DVD+/-R at 16X, DVD+/-R DL at 8X, DVD+RW at 8X, DVD-R at 6X and DVD-RAM at 5X. CD-R/RW are also supported. The Blu-ray drive, other than writing, is compatible with BD-Live and supports AVCHD playback. It even does HD upscaling using the bundled CyberLink Power Director software.
The Buffalo BR-X1216U3 is backward compatible with USB 2.0 interface as well, so you can still use with your exiting PC. It will be released in early December for 39,100 Yen.

 

Funai Eco Scan Mini Projector produces touch sensitive image

Funai and Nippon Signal have developed the Eco Scan mini projector that is able to produce touch sensitive images. The projector utilizes Nippon Signal’s MEMS scanner and RGB laser light is scanned by a two-axis MEMS mirror to project a color image.

Samsung introduces the SH-B083 COMBO, its first internal Blu-ray Disc Combo drive. The SH-B083 is able to read BD-R and BD-ROM at up to 8X speeds. It is also a CD/DVD burner that writes DVD+/-R/RW/R DL at up to 12X, DVD-RAM at 5X and CD-R/RW at 40X.

The Samsung SH-B083 COMBO reads DVD at 16X and CD at 40X. It uses SATA interface and has 2MB buffer memory. It includes the SuperLink Buffer Underrun Protection. The combo drive comes with Cyberlink TrueTheater software and will be available in November.

Transcend StoreJet 18M Shockproof Portable HDD

Trancend adds to its StoreJet series the 18M mini portable hard drive that is based on the design of the StoreJet 25M. Comes in the size of a deck of playing cards, the 18M has a rugged design with shockproof features. It meets the U.S. military drop-test standards (MIL-STD-810F 516.5—Transit Drop).

The StoreJet 18M is equipped with a 1.8-inch 128GB hard drive. It offers the OneTouch auto-backup button for instant backup and data synchronization.

Samsung 32GB moviNAND utilizes 30nm-class NAND Technology

Samsung introduces the new 32GB moviNAND, the highest density and the first embedded memory card to utilize 32 Gigabit (Gb) NAND devices produced with 30nm-class process technology.

Each 32GB moviNAND device incorporates eight Samsung 30nm-class 32Gb NAND chips, a multimedia card (MMC) controller and firmware. The 30nm moviNAND is also available in 16GB, 8GB and 4GB capacities.

Samsung’s proprietary moviNAND observes the embedded MMC (eMMC) standard, and uses a high-speed interface that was jointly developed by JEDEC and MMCA (MultiMediaCard Association). The most recent specification (eMMC v4.3) includes a power-on boot feature that shortens boot-up time and a sleep command to reduce power consumption.more
