Verizon HTC Droid Incredible Android Phone Now Official

 Verizon officially adds the HTC Droid Incredible Android device to its Droid lineup. The Incredible is HTC’s latest Android device, which runs the Android 2.1 OS with HTC Sense UI, Friend Stream for unified Flickr, Facebook and Twitter updates and “Leap” view for quick access to all seven home screen panels.
Powered by Qualcomm SnapDragon 1GHz processor with 512MB RAM and 512MB ROM, the HTC Droid Incredible gets a 3.6-inch razor-shape 480×800 AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, a 8 Megapixel camera with dual LED flash, an optical joystick for navigation, and dedicated touch-sensitive Home, Menu, Back and Search buttons. The phone features also integrated GPS, WiFi 802.11b/g connectivity, 3.5mm headset jack, proximity sensor, light sensor and digital compass.

Verizon Wireless will release HTC Droid Incredible on 29 April 2010 and the price will be $199.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement.

JVC Kaboom RV-NB50 Boombox with iPod dock

JVC launches in the US the RV-NB50 Kaboom boombox with built-in iPod dock and USB host port. JVC’s Kaboom boasts 40 watts of power and bass enhancement circuitry. It comes with a CD player is capable of Audio CD, MP3, WMA playback, integrated FM tuner and a iPod dock. There is also a USB Host port for playback of music files stored on a USB mass storage device.
The Kaboom includes also front audio input and comes with a remote control. The RV-NB50 models comes in black and silver and there is also the all black RV-NB52. You can get a JVC Kaboom from Amazon for $289.76.

While the Nexus One has just been released, A guy over at Mobile01 has posted two pictures that suggest to be Google’s Nexus Two. In fact the design of the device looks more like the successor to Motorola’s Droid/Milestone. Of course it is totally possible for Google to take the phone from Motorola and sell it as the Nexus Two, which is rumored to be getting QWERTY keyboard.

JVC-Victor announced the RV-NB50 boombox with an integrated iPod dock. The boombox features 2×5W speakers and 2×15W woofers. Other than playback from iPod, the JVC RV-NB50 has built-in CD player that supports audio CD and MP3/WMA CD and a USB port for playing WMA/MP3 files from USB drives.
The RV-NB50 includes FM tuner as well and comes with a remote control. It is compatible with iPod touch, iPod nano (all gen), iPod classic..etc. You can expect the boombox to out in late December…in Japan.

Following TomTom’s Car Kit, Magellan is going to release a similar product named Premium Car Kit. The device features a fully adjustable mount that works with any skin or case, built-in GPS receiver for enhanced signal and the ability to do in-car charging.
With built-in noise-canceling speakerphone and amplified speaker, the Premium Car Kit can be used for Bluetooth hands-free calling. Users can rotate the kit for both portrait and landscape use. Other than use with iPhone, it’s built-in GPS receiver also turn iPod touch into a GPS navigator.
Magellan Premium Car Kit works with any GPS or location based iPhone app. The company does release the RoadMate app that features NAVTEQ Maps, Spoken Street Name Guidance, Highway Lane Assist, 3D Landmarks and Pedestrian Mode. The RoadMate App is priced at $79.99 and the Car Kit has no price and release date yet.

 

AT&T Sony Ericsson C905a and W518a Mobile Phones

AT&T launches two new Sony Ericsson mobile phones in the US market, including the C905a Cyber-shot and the W518a Walkman phone that is the enhanced version of the W508 Walkman with additional A-GPS support.

The C905a Cyber-shot features a 2.4-inch LCD display and a 8.1 Megapixel camera with Xenon flash, auto focus, GPS geo-tagging and face detection. On the other hand, the W518a Walkman clamshell has a 3.2 Megapixel camera with geo-tagging, a 240×320 color display, an external display and Bluetooth.

Both phones support Memory Stick Micro (M2) memory cards. The Sony Ericsson C905a and W518a will be released on 19 July for $179.99 and $49.99, both after mail-in rebate with a 2-year contract.

IPhone 3GS Handsets Overheat, Turn Brown

The iPhone 3G may, at least for some users, have an additional, undocumented feature: It can be used to toast bread.

Reports are coming in that the new, million-selling iPhone is suffering from overheating issues. The handsets are getting so warm, in fact, that the plastic cases of the white models are discoloring to pink. The picture above is from Ben on the French site Le Journal du Geek.

It’s not just anonymous forum posters, either. Melissa J. Perenson of PC World has a toasty 3GS, too:

And at some point, I became aware the handset had become very hot. Very, very hot — not just on the back, but the entire length of the front face, too. I was using a game, and then later the Web browser for reading the news about Michael Jackson, all over a Wi-Fi connection while plugged in. And in those circumstances, well…toasty doesn’t even describe how surprisingly hot it got. It was too hot to even put the phone against my face. No discoloration to report, though; I have the black handset, and didn’t see any effects.

Other reports across the web, including the Apple discussion forums, seem to point at GPS use and playing games as the culprits. Of course, there are problems with product launches all the time, and Apple users tend to be more vocal than most. And Apple is notoriously reticent to admit anything is wrong, Remember the first gen white MacBooks that turned yellow on top?

If true, these overheating issues may even end up in an exploding battery scandal. To add to the confusion, I have noticed my 2G iPod Touch getting a lot hotter than usual since updating to the v3.0 software. This happens while web browsing, and the battery is draining fast, too. I have no idea if this is related, but if it is it could point at some bad power-management software in OS 3.0.more
