GUZARISH is truly magical: Amitabh Bachchan

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s latest film Guzaarish has left Amitabh Bachchan and son Abhishek Bachchan totally bowled over.

The film starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai in lead roles did not have any lavish premiere, but a special screening at Yash Raj Studios for friends and colleagues from the film industry.

Abhishek, who was shooting in Goa, flew to Mumbai especially for the screening. But clearly one man who was most impressed by the film was Big B.

“It’s a work of art. It’s poetry in motion. A sensitive subject handled the way only Sanjay Leela Bhansali could. He is truly a great maker. A man with incredible visual sense and sense of cinema. Beautifully etched characters, sincerely performed and all of them executing it in the most dignified and sincere manner,” Big B wrote on his blog.

“What can one say at moments like these. One is dumbfounded and almost speechless,” the superstar added.

Even sonny Abhishek was spellbound after watching the film.

“Was completely worth it!! GUZARISH is truly magical! Sanjay is pure genius. Everything about the film, according to me, was pitch perfect. It’s spellbinding,” Abhishek tweeted after watching the film.

The screening was attended by Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut, Ashutosh Gowarikar, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajkumar Hirani, among others. Everybody was full of praises for the movie after watching it.

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan, an iconic celebrity known for his awe-inspiring acting abilities, believes that success can only be achieved through hard work and pain.

“Nothing in this world is achieved without pain, hard work, sweat, blood and tears, the sooner we reconcile to this fact the better; the sooner we start to act on it even better!” Bachchan wrote in his blog www.bigb.bigadda.com.

The veteran actor feels even when one feels like relaxing, one should continue to maintain the same consistency. “There are times when you feel the need to allow inconsistency to set in, but that is not an option at all, work it shall be,” he wrote.

For him the story of “Adam and Eve” is a lesson and we need to earn the right to live through hard work and effort.

“Man was told that on day one after the apple incident - you shall earn your survival through hard labour and the woman shall bear child in pain, dare we mortals, common and general, ever challenge that?”

Even with the years of experience behind him, the actor still gets butterflies in his stomach before he leaves for work.

“Anticipation of work begins to build in after a short gap, the butterflies and the nerves act up and the mind begins to gear up to perform to the optimum,” wrote the 67-year-old thespian.

Big B woke up thoroughly disoriented at Chennai event

The Big B’s workaholic nature is by now a well-known fact in the industry. The past week has been exceptionally hectic, even by his own standards.Little wonder then that Mr. Bachchan dozed off at the felicitation ceremony on Saturday at Chennai at Sathyam cinema where he was honored by all the film federations of Chennai.

At the end of the evening the Big B had 24 shawls to bring back from Chennai. A burden he was ill prepared for, considering he had gone with only a day’s baggage to Chennai.When asked what he would do with the massive haul of 24 shawls the Big B replied, “I’ll give them away to the needy.”

But the shawls were least of the Big B’s burdens in Chennai . Extreme exhaustion finally caught up with him when he dozed off in his hotel before the felicitation ceremony and woke up thoroughly disoriented, not knowing where he was.

Director Balki who was with the Big B says, “He was fine. He finally had some sleep. You’ve to understand that this is no ordinary human being. Amit ji is a miracle. He can continue working non-stop without sleep. Last week he was running around getting the premiere in place. Then on Friday morning he left to shoot for Bigg Boss without any sleep after the premiere. After shooting the entire day in Lonavla he attended the Bombay Times party and then on Saturday early morning he left for Chennai. At an age when a lot of us will be in a rocking chair he is still rocking.”

Rocking is all very fine. But those close to the Big B feel he is again overdoing his work schedules and needs to slow down, fast.Says a person very close to the Big B, “After two major health scares recently Amit ji has refused to slacken his pace. Except for the break he took to be with Amar Singh in Singapore earlier this year he has been working round the clock.”

Hrithik Roshan to give out a five-and-a-half minute-long monologue

We all know that Hrithik Roshan used to stammer in his childhood. But now the actor is said to have erased the problem with regular speech practice and determination. So much that he impressed Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who is usually not liberal in his appreciation.

During the shoot of Bhansali’s Guzaarish, Hrithik had to do an intense scene where he had to give out a five-and-a-half minute-long monologue. The filmmaker had planned to break down the scene into three parts to make it easy for the actor. Surprisingly, Hrithik continued with his long dialogue before the director could say cut. Bhansali was immensely amazed with the actor and applauded him for his performance.

Not knowing what to say, Bhansali said to Hrithik, “You are in Bachchan ’s league.” The green-eyed actor who was already feeling elated, felt on top of the world after hearing such prestigious compliment from this fine filmmaker.

Amitabh Bachchan to surrender in front of Ringmaster

The unthinkable has happened. The living legend of Indian cinema, Amitabh Bachchan, has been made to kneel down. And this has happened for a key sequence in ALADIN where the man, who plays the role of ‘Genius - The Genie’, is required to touch Sanjay Dutt’s feet.

Says a source attached to the feel, “An important part of the film’s narrative requires the character played by Amitabh Bachchan to surrender in front of Ringmaster, which is played by Sanjay Dutt. Though this was always a part of the script, there was all an around apprehension around the shooting of this scene. Sujoy and others feared how exactly would millions of Amitabh Bachchan fans accept this scene. For Sanjay Dutt too it was challenging since Amitabh Bachchan is too big a name to be kneeling down.”

However, what everyone completely understood was the potential of the scene and how it contributed to the dramatic quotient. The film does convey the message of good’s win over evil and a scene like this only heightens the impact of the final result. Moreover, to make matters easy, Amitabh Bachchan was game for the scene and didn’t hesitate in going by the director’s vision.

“That’s the beauty of working with Mr. Bachchan”, says Sujoy, “He lets himself be driven as wanted by the director. We were a bunch of kids wondering how to approach Sir to do this scene and there he was game to do whatever that went well with the character. He has always stated that once he is committed to a project, he doesn’t protest on anything. This is why we could can such a crucial scene without any hindrance. It is indeed one of the highlights of the film.”

Aamir Khan was offered For Madame Tussauds

With the news about Sachin Tendulkar at the Madame Tussauds just a few days old, speculations are rife as to who the next entrant would be. And media as usual is agog with the buzz that it would most probably be the ’Perfectionist’ Khan, Aamir Khan . Even Bobby Khan, who manages the Bollywood section in London, as well as the Indian franchise of the museum (under Bobby Khan Holdings), has gone on record to say that Aamir would indeed be the first choice. However what everyone conveniently forgot was that Aamir had refused to be waxed when the offer was made to him a year or so back.

Well, those with sharp memories and a keen interest in Bollywood affairs would remember that after the unveiling of Shah Rukh Khan’s statue in London, Aamir Khan was offered to be waxed, and he refused. Sources close to Aamir Khan (read relatives) cited personal beliefs (about being made into statue!) as the reason behind the refusal!

However, it remains to be seen whether Aamir would give in to the temptation this time, and especially if his name comes up in a poll /consensus, as Bobby Khan has planned.

May be Aamir would say yes to keep his fans and those who vote for his statue to be waxed happy. But this is hypothetical and it remains to be seen as to how things would unfold. Till that time keep tuned to your favourite portal for more on the subject.

Amitabh Bachchan ahead of the upcoming IPL tournament

Superstar Amitabh Bachchan went out of his way to cheer Preity Zinta’s team Kings XI Punjab ahead of the upcoming IPL tournament.

Preity Zinta ’s IPL team is not in the best of spirits. Since it has quite a few Sri Lankan players, the team may be feeling a bit demoralized due to the recent terrorist attack on them. Add to it the disappointment of the tournament’s venue being shifted to South Africa. However, Preity knows how to boost the team’s morale.

“Preity had called last evening for a request - her IPL team was hugely depressed and she was wondering if I could do a small TV bite to cheer them up. I did that and I hope it makes them happy,” Amitabh posted on his blog.

Mr. Bachchan is very fond of Preity and she, too, shares an excellent rapport with the Bachchans. Not only has she acted with Big B in films like The Last Lear , Veer Zaara and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna , she went out of her way to be part of the Bachchan troupe when they went on a world tour last year.


Big B added on his blog that cricket has occupied a greater place in people’s lives ever since the Twenty20 craze began.

“Cricket has become so big and important. And the T20 series, now shifted to South Africa due to security concerns and concerns of its reflection on the elections, is a sheer delight,” Mr. Bachchan wrote on his blog.

The second season of the IPL begins on April 18 in South Africa.
