Toshiba NB205 Netbook Reviewed

Toshiba NB205 is available from OnSale for $408.99.

Toshiba has launched the NB205 netbook PC in the US market and LaptopMag has had a in depth look at the device. The NB205 is boosted by Intel’s Atom N280 1.66GHz processor, 1GB RAM and 160GB hard drive. It has a 10.1-inch 1024×600 netbook and supports WiFi 802.11b/g and Bluetooth 2.1.

In creating its first netbook for the U.S., Toshiba has learned from the mistakes and successes of its rivals, and one-upped them all. Its mini NB205 has everything we’d recommend in a netbook: an attractive chassis, comfortable keyboard and touchpad, and more than eight hours of battery life for an affordable price. While Samsung’s N110 and ASUS’ Eee PC 1000HE continue to be good choices, Toshiba’s $399 mini NB205 provides an all-around solid package, and longer endurance than the competition.

Mobinnova élan NVIDIA Tegra-powered netbook

Mobinnova presents at the Computex 2009 the élan, a netbook/smartbook powered by NVIDIA Tegra Computer-on-a-Chip. Thanks to the Tegra, the élan can handle accelerated Adobe Flash animations and 720p high-definition video playback.

Mobinnova élan features a 8.9-inch LCD display, QWERTY keyboard, touchpad, webcam, and support for both WiFi and 3G connectivity. The élan is compact, lightweight and fanless. It measures just 232mm x 186 mm x 20.5 mm and weighs only 836g.

NVIDIA’s Tegra is a power-saving platform allowing the élan to provide 5-10 hours of continuous HD video playback on a single charge.

Along with the elan, Mobinnova T8 is also being shown at the Computex 2009. The T8 is basically an enhanced version of the elan, featuring a 10.1-inch touchscreen, GPS, HDMI and VGA output.
