I believe in taking up criticism positively says John Abraham

john-abraham1[1]1

Actor John Abraham’s sexy abs may be getting him all the female attention, but his hot body is not exactly something that the Bollywood hunk considers as his USP.
Talking about his chiseled looks, Abraham says, “It definitely gets me the eyeballs, but I think that’s not all that earns me a fan following. I think I’m the underdog that everyone relates to. That’s my connection with my fans and also my strength.”
Explaining further, he adds, “My fans have seen me work my way up in the industry - from modelling to the big screen. I am not a star son nor did I have any Godfather. Nothing was offered to me on a platter. I have had my share of struggle and youngsters feel that if I could do it, so can they.”
However, Abraham is also quick to point out that he doesn’t resent the fact that he’s not born into a film family. “I don’t think they have it easy either. At the end of the day, you either deliver or you don’t and that has nothing to do with who you have to back you in this industry.”
He adds, “Today I respect all the success even more because it hasn’t come easy to me.” Is he referring to the initial days as an actor when he was being labeled as just-another-model-who-can’t-act? “Yes, that too. But I did not lose heart, I believe in taking up criticism positively and also as a challenge and try to work on it, rather than sulk about it,” he reveals.
His last release Jhootha Hi Sahi didn’t exactly set the cash registers ringing but Abraham is looking forward to his next - the high on action Kha Kha Kha.

“I’ll be kicking some serious butt in this,” smiles Abraham who will also be seen in the comedy Desi Boyz with Akshay Kumar and Dostana 2.

John wants to act in action movie

John_Abraham1

After the debacle of “Jhootha Hi Sahi”, Bollywood’s pin-up star John Abraham has decided to focus on mainstream roles. He is currently toning muscles for Hindi remake of Tamil blockbuster “Kaakha Kaakha”.
With his last two films “Ashaayein” and “Jhootha Hi Sahi” not doing well, you would think John’s producers are in the process of a serious re-think. Far from being discouraged, the makers are in the process of enhancing the original material.
Director Nishikant Kamat remains unfazed by the performance of John’s films.
“My producer Vipul Shah and I signed John for the ‘Kaakha Kaakha’ remake because we saw him doing the action hero’s part to perfection. So far, no film has tapped that side of him. John will be performing some of the most dangerous stunts ever seen in our film,” he said.
John, 37, has right now halted the shooting of key action sequences in his first full-fledged action film. Apart from Bollywood’s best action director Allan Amin, he has also asked for an action team from South Africa to supervise his stunts.
Confirming this, Kamat said: “We’ll do the action scenes later. I cannot do those loud larger-than-life stunts sequences where the hero beats up 20 adversaries single-handedly.”
“The action in my film has to be in the more realistic yet hardcore commercial space.
It’s a challenge for both me and John. For me, commercial cinema is new. I’ve butterflies in my stomach every time I go on the sets,” he added.
A source close to John says it’s goodbye to experimental characters for the actor.
No more playing against personality for John. No more nerdy or dying characters. It’s muscles and beefcake all the way as the pinup boy acquires an adrenaline-pumping chest-thumping image for his next, said the source.

There was so much negativity about me-John Abraham!

John_Ab

Eight weeks after the release of NEW YORK, John Abraham is letting bygones be bygones and is willing to forgive and forget the past when there were uncharacteristic remarks being made about him. With rejection coming someone’s way in the earlier days, it is natural to have bitterness set in over a period of time, isn’t it?

"No, I have actually never been bitter. Instead I have only tried to be as humble as possible, put my head down and work hard. I guess the result is a film like NEW YORK. I hope to be doing many more such performance oriented films. I work for appreciation more than anything else and I guess my time has started now", says John in a soft tone.

He adds, "The film helped me in this way that today even those people from the industry are calling me who have never done that before. I am not holding any grudges though; what’s the point in doing that", reasons John.

Meanwhile, he is investing a lot of himself for his under production 1-800 LOVE which is being directed by Abbas Tyrewala of JAANE TU YA JAANE NAA fame. The film is produced by Madhu Mantena of GHAJINI fame.

"This is yet another special film for me", says John, "We can’t go wrong with the film as we have made it 200% sure that we have got everything right on the writing and the pre-production stage itself. In fact I went through these formal script workshops for the film which was such a great experience."

John can’t be seen resting though. Before the end of year, he would have one more of his films hitting the screens. It is David Dhawan directed HOOK YA CROOK which is currently aiming for a 11th December release.

A UTV Motion Pictures production, HOOK YA CROOK also stars Genelia D’Souza, Kay Kay Menon, Shreyas Talpade and Sharad Kapoor with a special appearance by Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The film is set in a prison and revolves around a cricket match played among the inmates.

Delhi police filed criminal case against actor John Abraham

john1

Delhi police filed a report in a court on a man’s complaint seeking registration of a criminal case against Bollywood actor John Abraham for allegedly posing indecently in a photograph published in a Hindi daily recently. An action taken report was submitted on behalf of the Station House Officer of Motinagar police station in the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Ashish Aggarwal.

The court, however, put the matter for September one for giving complainant C M Dua an opportunity to put forward arguments in the matter. Dua, who runs a NGO, sought registration of a FIR against model-turned-actor Abraham, the publisher and the editor of the daily.

The court had on July seven asked the SHO, Motinagar, to file an action taken report in the matter since the complaint alleged commission of cognisable offences under Section 292 and 294 (relating to spread of obscene material) of the IPC.

John Abraham and Akshay Kumar are elated to respective movies

images-

In a world of cut-throat competition, here are two actors patting each other’s back. John Abraham and Akshay Kumar are elated that their respective movies New York and Kambakkht Ishq are doing well at box office, and since nothing tastes sweeter than success the two stars have sweet things to coo for each other.

“I love Akshay. When he is happy, I’m also happy. I’m so glad that ’Kambakkht Ishq’ is performing so well. He deserved it. He is not just my senior but also a very good man,” John told a news agency even though ‘Kambakkht Ishq’ bit into ‘New York’ profits.

Akshay, too, is happy that the John Abraham-Katrina Kaif-Neil Nitin Mukesh starrer has ended the lull at box office.

“I am extremely happy for ’New York’ and especially John. The film brought an end to the bad run that Bollywood was facing for such a long time,” Akshay is quoted to have said.

In fact, in a party Akshay and Kareena Kapoor threw to celebrate the success of ‘Kambakkht Ishq’ they invited the ‘New York’ cast and crew as well.

This instance of camaraderie between two top stars is not new in Bollywood. Just a few months back, Salman Khan made paintings of Aamir Khan’s Ghajini look to help promote the film prior to its release.

The Reason For John Abraham opted out in Karan’s Stepmom

John Abraham

John Abraham reluctantly but firmly said no to Karan’s offer to play the male lead in the desi version of Chris Columbus’s Stepmom.

Karan had given John a big break in Kaal a few years ago. And nobody can deny the recent Dharma dhamaka Dostana was a turning-point for John’s career.

First Saif, then John was approached to play the lead opposite Kajol and Kareena Kapoor in the desi version of Stepmom.

John almost agreed then opted out. Reason? He didn’t see himself doing much in a film that already started two powerhouse actresses, both natural-born scenestealers.

Says a source, “Karan had almost convinced John to do the role. He even promised that the husband’s role in the Indian Stepmom would be far more substantial than what Ed Harris did in the original.

But John is at a stage in his career where he wants to make all the right career moves. He feels as an outsider in the industry he has made a place that must be respected, ” says a source close to John.

“John is finally learning to say no to projects even if they come from big banners if he isn’t convinced that he’d get proper performing space. In Dostana he went along with the salespitch that Abhishek was the ‘actor’ while John was the ‘body’.

But in Dostana 2 John will make sure he will be the actor and the body. He’s working hard on it.”

The latest on Stepmom is that it’s yet to be acquired for remake by Dharma Productions.

Says Karan Johar, “The modalities for that are still being worked out. Until the contract is signed I wouldn’t want to comment on it.

Stepmom was released in the same year as my directorial debut Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and I loved it. I look forward to developing it if the modalities are worked out.

You of course know Kajol and Kareena Kapoor are expected to play the two roles.”

In the meanwhile the other Karan favourite Arjun Rampal who did a walk-on part in Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna has agreed to step into Stepmom, if and when it gets made.

John Abraham & Akshay Kumar are getting back together

movgal2

After the super success of ‘Garam Masala’, the red-hot guys John Abraham & Akshay Kumar are getting back together for a youthful romantic-comedy. David Dhawan’s 25 year old son Rohit get-goes for his directorial venture with this untitled flick that’s expected to be one of the most high-priced films of 2010.

Closer sources revealed that Akshay overwhelmed with ebullience accepted to co-produce the film and is sure about shelling out more money from his pockets. Of course, the duo would be flaunting their stunning physiques and this is gonna enchant every lad and fille in town.

Earlier, Rohit had proposed with his script for ‘Come On Pappu’ (Percept and Akshay’s Hari Om Productions) that was supposed to have Akshay, Sonam Kapoor and a Chimp on title cards. As well, Ranbir Kapoor and Salman Khan were to be roped in for prominent roles. However, due to some constraints the project has been shelved and this comedy-entertainer will start rolling by mid-of-2010.
