Spring Break, Part I

sb1
What started off as one of the most beautiful road trips of my life ended up as one of the best weeks imaginable. The 16 hour drive flew by (our speedometer agreed--we were indeed flying through those southern highways). Florida welcomed us with open arms, or open roadside stands of fresh squeezed orange juice to be specific. The Welcome Center was a riot and we nearly had to fight off five-year-old tourists for the chance to pose in the super-cute surfer boy and southern belle photos. Worth it.

The first day on the boat was gloriously sunny and a dreamy 75 degrees; the first night was, well, delightfully tacky. From the neon accents to the light-up elevators, the Carnival Cruiseline sure likes things flashy. During the day, it was like I was relaxing in a tropical resort. At night, the ship turned into Las Vegas-in-the-middle-of-the-Atlantic, complete with casinos, comedy shows, and the Cupid Shuffle playing hourly.

One night of karaoke and dancing in the "Diamond Disco" was enough for us, and we spent most of the rest of our nights taking in the unbelievable sunsets and glittery ocean waves on the upper deck.

Part two to come soon, and in the meantime, click through my (very first ever) picture album on Facebook.
