If The Clothes Make The Man, The Dress Makes The Day

The prospect of graduation makes my heart race and my face flush. As proud as I'll be to collect my diploma alongside some of the best friends I've made during these past four years, I know that the next day will be a lot like the day after Christmas. There's so much anticipation and excitement surrounding the occasion, but once it passes, you sit there wondering, "What now?"

If there's one lesson I've learned from college, it's that the right outfit can make anything more enjoyable, from an early morning exam to a class presentation. Friday night is my last sorority formal, which my friends forbade me from skipping. I've maybe gone to half of these events, mostly because I find that expectation to have the best night ever excruciating.

This year, I found the perfect dress and even better shoes to match, and I'm now more excited than I've ever been. Had I known that all it took was a great outfit to wear to have an equally great time, I might have gone to more of these fancy formals. Doubtful. But maybe.

I can't help but wonder if a gorgeous new dress could make me more excited for graduation, too. Even if I'm not ready for the tossing-my-cap-and-being-tossed-in-the-real-world part, I might at least look forward to wear the dress.

Not just any dress would suffice, though. Particularly this dress, spotted in this month's Elle, would make wearing a graduation gown much more tolerable. Too bad the dress is nowhere to be foundjust like available entry-level jobs.
